If anyone can defy an “Economic Blackout” it’s Amazon [MDSR #41]
Brought to you by MDS, helping you accelerate your sales and growth without reinventing the wheel.
Friendly reminder before we dive in — MDS Inspire 2025 is happening this month.
📅 March 24-25, 2025
📍 Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas
That’s 2 days, 20+ speakers, 30+ experts, Las Vegas, and YOU right in the mix.
Are you in?
This isn’t another “sit back and watch” event. It’s a networking experience where you’ll be part of actionable conversations, benefit from 1-1 expert coffee chats, and connect with 7 and 8-figure founders spanning Amazon, TikTok, and DTC.
Did we mention our dates conveniently overlap with Prosper Show so you can maximize your time in Vegas?
Don’t be the one wondering what it could have been like to be there…
Hot Off The Presses 📰
Birds are chirping. Days are getting longer. Spring is at long last in the air…
But no season is officially here until Amazon pushes a seasonal sale to prove it — which is to say, another Spring Big Deal Days event is upon us.
If you’re a participating seller, you need to:
Submit your deals to Amazon by March 17th.
Think about getting on the Buy With Prime bandwagon.
Consider setting a higher minimum order handling threshold if you’re expecting a spike in orders.
If you don’t do that last part, shoppers will see an underwhelming delivery promise now that Amazon’s automatic minimum thresholds are in effect — and that’s why the jury’s still out on whether this change will boost efficiency or suppress sales.
But if you’ve been in the game long enough, you know the powers that be over at Amazon are always up to something. Even when they’re cutting costs, it’s to splash out on even bigger investments.
On top of Alexa’s long-awaited AI overhaul and new video ads in Rufus, Amazon is tripling down on AI with a new “reasoning” model that’s said to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic. But they’re also expanding into new territories — by literally taking their fight with Temu to European markets — and branching out into the less-than-truckload market in hopes of launching a disruptive transportation product in 2026.
Amazon platform aside, there are some other shifts within the eCommerce ecosystem that sellers should know about right now —
The companies making seller tools (especially for revenue recovery) are having their moment in the sun, and that’s good for the future of your profit margins.
Consumer behavior is changing and opening more opportunities for sellers to reach high-value segments: Luxury consumers now have an appetite for social shopping and men are now expected to out-shop and outspend women online in 2025.
That said, political beliefs are increasingly shaping how and where people spend their dollars and consumers are boycotting corporations that have retreated from DE&I.
Mind you, Amazon defied the “Economic Blackout” and actually managed to see more sales during the boycott.
Speaking of politics, like it or not Trump’s tariffs on Canada, China, and Mexico have taken effect and all three countries are striking back. Meanwhile, the rapid rise of China-based sellers on platforms like Amazon and Walmart hangs in the balance no matter how much Chinese manufacturers speed up their efforts to dodge the new tariffs
It’s looking like there are more losers than winners in this new global trade game — but there seems to be one way to win. And it’s by paying the Elon tax.

Million Dollar Advice 💸
If it feels like the Amazon sellers who manage to pump out a steady stream of social media content must have more hours in their day — or at least some secret weapon no one else knows about — then you need to hear this:
There’s no special tool to guarantee consistent content publishing. The only secret to steady success is the practice of batching.
Our experts have learned the hard way so you don’t have to. So, sit back, relax, and let Corey Ganim tell you that content production is a lot more efficient without constant context-switching.
How to turn reviews into powerful product descriptions with ChatGPT 🤖
When it comes to resonating with savvy shoppers — and ascending the ranks of Google and AI-powered search engine results — nobody can resonate with today’s consumers as well as other consumers can.
Especially through product reviews. Yet, most ecompreneurs are sleeping on the opportunity to use them to their full potential.
With some help from your friend ChatGPT, you can easily transform your review content into powerful product descriptions that convert more customers and help your items get discovered wherever shoppers are doing their research.
The process is simple:
Extract Reviews: Use tools like Screaming Frog to extract customer reviews from your website.
Connect to OpenAI: Integrate your extracted reviews with OpenAI using an API key to feed them into ChatGPT for analysis.
Generate Descriptions: Finally, prompt ChatGPT to create tailored, unique product descriptions based on the insights — and even the exact phrasings — from your customer reviews.

With tariffs kicking everyone in the throat this week, let's wage war on COGS. Hopefully this helps :)
First thing, you need to understand your supplier's cost structure. By cost structure, I mean that you need to understand how their business is financed, their cost of labor,… x.com/i/web/status/1…
